๐Ÿงญ Heading Reflections

โ€œTrust is like the great events of history, no single thing โ€˜causedโ€™ the whole event. Instead, it was a large number of small things done by different people in different parts of the world all aggregating into this one global event. Trust occurs the same way, from small moments of vulnerability aggregating into a moment of trust โ€“ so focus on sharing the small vulnerabilities.โ€

โ€œTrusting someone is not the same as giving them responsibility. The difference is that trust is an act of vulnerability that shows faith without obligation. Responsibility is a mandated set of expectations that you are held accountable to and that have consequences if not completed.โ€

โ€œTo build trust with yourself, you must demonstrate your ability to win small under no pressure while fighting the notion that mistakes equal failure. There is a spectrum of results between success and failure, and ignorant and masterful all of which are simultaneously possible.โ€

โœจ Wisdom of the Greats

โ€œThe best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them." โ€“ Ernest Hemingway

โ€œTrust men and they will be true to you; treat them greatly, and they will show themselves great." โ€“ Ralph Waldo Emerson

โ€œHe who does not trust enough will not be trusted." โ€“ Lao Tzu

๐Ÿ”ฅ Discovery Challenges

Challenge

Identify 5 public/private figures who you look up to because you think they are awesome โ€“ who do they trust and why?

Reflection Prompts

"I have nobody I can trust and I have every opportunity to trust others."

"Figure out who the person is in your life whom you trust the least โ€“ what of their traits do you emulate even if only a little?โ€

"What are 5 opportunities where I could have trusted someone (and didnโ€™t) in the last week and how could they have played out differently? What skills do I need to grow to be able to take advantage of these in the future?โ€

๐Ÿงช Voyager's Catalyst

โ€œThe Story Iโ€™m Telling Myself isโ€ฆโ€ โ€“ This statement opener makes it much easier to relay with trust how you are feeling โ€“ it allows someone else into your inner dialogue. Not only does it help to avoid miscommunication but allows for reassurances and alignments which would have otherwise been entirely missed

๐Ÿ“–Voyagerโ€™s Bookshelf (Peruse my Bookshelf)

What you consume becomes your attitude and behaviours.

Currently Reading: The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Amazon)

What I am liking is the way that Greene provides a looks into and describes the patterns that show up in human power dynamics. Although some of the laws create a visceral reaction of disgust, it helps me better understand what in the behaviour creates power. This in turn helps me with better recognition in my own life.

Previous Readings: Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why by Laurence Gonzales (Amazon)

For People Who: Want to know what it takes to survive something unknown.

What I liked how the content challenged me to confront life's stresses and perceived traps, emphasising the need to break harmful mental models to improve survival. Laurence Gonzales delves into the mind of someone who feels lost, exploring how these patterns can be broken. I appreciate its broader applicability beyond physical survival, inviting periodic reassessment of life and position based on reality rather than assumptions. A favorite quote: "I am not lost; I am right here".
