Who Am I?

Who? Me?! Looks around room confused...why do you want to know about me? Who sent you? Oh, you're cool? Ok then.

My name is Dr. Chris Read (yes, a fancy title that honestly I don't mind using hither and thither, but at the very least is just a title). I am an often very private person, although trusting and considerate of others as much as I can. I am a career pessimist who has been reforming through reading, discussion, deep reflection, and therapy (looots of therapy). I am quirky and a bit odd, don't question it or make it weird its just who I am. I love taking ideas and running with them, constructing narratives and cool ideas, and experiencing the beauties that the world at large has to offer. I have issues with exacting quality standards and deep insecurities around my work being validated - so in short, I am human (or so my mother tells me).

BIO

Ugh, I hate writing these, but if you insist!

Dr. Chris Read is not listed anywhere on the internet because he despises shouting his name so people will hear him. He grew up in a working middle class family in Australia to divorced parents and an identical twin brother. Although he never played that trick where you switch with your twin, that is his least favourite question to answer. His childhood was full of sports, scouting, and music. After a very deep depression and dark teenage period he began to realise he excelled at understanding concepts rather than rote learning them, taking a liking to organic chemistry. Because he didn't know what else to do but apply his new found skills of understanding, Chris, understandably doubled down and go his PhD by the age of 25. After achieving this goal he realised that all of the travelling, bureaucracy, and long hours in the life of an academic did not suit him or his goals. So, masterfully, he left to work in at a pharmaceuticals company (ah yea, much better) - This too, surprisingly, did not work out well. It was only during COVID that he found his first taste of self development while pulling 4am shifts. Just like that a relative Spiderman was born, slinging webs from book-to-book and podcast-to-podcast to tease out any and all of the skills that could benefit himself and others in the pursuit of a better and more connected world. To this day, he still yearns to make a difference in the world through anything he creates.

My Why, How, and Core Values

My Why

To manifest the curiosity of people so that, together, we can build a loving, resilient, and infinite world.

Core Values

  1. Seeking Understanding - Being engaged with the world to learn and appreciate its mechanisms and connections.

  2. Exploring Openly - Being open to discomfort in the form of non-violent ideas which are novel or personally expanding.

  3. Playing and Experimenting - Being enthusiastic about pulling different levers to see various results on the games of and in life.

  4. Respecting and Empathising - Being mindfully considerate of those who are important to me or who represent an important piece of the human experience.

  5. Offering Love - Being generous with sharing my experiences, skills, creations, and efforts with those who would benefit from them.

My Hows

  • Immerse Yourself ("I believe the only way to understand the world is to immerse yourself in it")

  • Always Explore and Learn ("I believe that there is always something to explore or learn even in error or defeat")

  • Collaborate Openly ("I believe that everyone brings something brilliant and interesting")

  • Take Action if Unsure ("I believe that decisive action allows progress")

  • Streamline to Solve Problems ("I believe that taking simple things, making them complicated, then refining creates both better problems and better solutions")

  • Seek Reflection ("I believe that the path you stand on is not always what it seems")

  • Make it Stand the Test of Time ("I believe that if you do not make things with the intention that they will outlive you, you have made it for the wrong reasons")

  • Self Rivalry ("I believe that the most curious world is the one in which we try to make better our own thoughts and actions with every iteration")

Personal Mantras

  •  "Remember that you are unrushed, I'm not lost I am right here"

  • "Focus on what you want to create, not what you want to avoid."

  • “You are forgiven for what you have done in the past, it was understandable, and for those things to come, it is inevitably human"

  • You are the example - The key is in what you do want, not what you don't - Exactly who is it your want your children to see after all the chips are down?

Vision for the Future

I dream of a world where passion and curiosity replace ignorance and scarcity. By crafting interactive, accessible systems, I aim to help others explore, connect, and create a joyous, collaborative world.

Because your time is worth the best I can offer.
