๐งญ Heading Reflections
โEmpathy is where we see reflected in others, our unmet needs and the shared humanity that brings.โ
โEmpathy cannot be forced onto others which makes it uniquely yours. If relationships are failing it is likely because there is a blindness to the needs of those around you. If the relationship with yourself is lacking it is likely a blindness to your own needs. Build the skill and you will build a more interesting and fulfilling life.โ
โPeople who feel seen are more productive, they are motivated to do things that align with their desires and emotions. If you can resonate with their needs, people will do things without the need for intervention.โ
โจ Wisdom of the Greats
โCould a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each otherโs eyes for an instant?" โ Henry David Thoreau
โWe think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know." โ Carl Rogers
โWhenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question: What fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize?" โ Marcus Aurelius
๐ฅ Discovery Challenges
Challenge
Identify one person in your life who would greatly benefit someone who listens openly and sits with them in their feelings.
Reflection Prompts
"Why do I think that Empathy is weakness and can also be the saviour?"
"If I saw a child suffering in under the worst possible conditions and I was to sit with them and hear their story โ what would be the hardest thing to sit with?โ
"What are the greatest opportunities that deeper connections and empathy could bring to my endeavours?โ

Currently Reading: The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Amazon)
What I am liking is the way that Robert Greene writes the laws. I appreciate how he presents each law with clarity: a concise title, a three-line abstract, and sharp historical examples of its observation and transgression. The book illuminates human nature and provides surprising insights into my own struggles with understanding power dynamics. Iโm learning more about myself than I expected.
Previous Readings: Tribe of Mentors by Timothy Ferriss (Amazon)
What I liked is the way that Tim provides value through so many different lenses, you get to see a variety of different approaches to life through a variety of different high-performing circumstances. A fantastic font of knowledge and experience to tap.
Questions that encapsulate the book:
How can I be more effective?
What principles help me to meet myself where I am?
What principles do successful role models act upon?
For People Who: Love a variety of tools from a vast array of high performances on the global stage.
