Navigate the Wonders of What Makes Goals Meaningful - Creating Meaningful Goals
Welcome, Fellow Wonderer to Thought Voyager!
This time, weโre diving into fostering Creating Meaningful Goals.
Thanks for joining me on this voyage of reflection and consideration seeking out the wisdom in what has passed and what is to come. Below are some collected and themed insights so that we can resonate on the same wavelength and dive into our collective journey from problems to personal growth.

๐งญ Heading Reflections
โAssigning meaning is a retrospective activity where we tell a narrative that helps us make sense of what has already happened. The danger comes when we project this aspired meaning into the future with certainty of its arrival.โ
โCreating meaningful goals comes down to determining what change we want to see occur in us over the course of our pursuit. However, because the outcome cannot be fully realised until after the events have unfolded and passed, frequent re-adjustments, paradigm shifts, and reflections on the meaning that has already been made are required to optimise for your desired result.โ
โThe creation of meaning is frustrating as it cannot be rushed, catalysed, or expedited. It must first be experienced, including suffering all the pain it entails, to learn and grow from the lessons it has to teach. Only then, does meaning present itself.โ
โจ Wisdom of the Greats
โThe meaning of life is not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you." โ Aldous Huxley
โHe who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." โ Friedrich Nietzsche
โIt is not the goals themselves but the journey toward them that gives life meaning." โ Viktor Frankl

Challenge
Identify one thing that at the end of your life you would have been glad to have done. What need sits at the core of this activity or event?
Reflection Prompts
"Everything in my life happened for a meaning that I am yet to assign"
"Imagine a person, who is not me, who would exist if something in my life would have gone differently, what challenges do they face?โ
"What opportunities do I see in the negative narratives of my past for useful meaning to be ascribed?โ

The Work by Byron Katie โ This is such a simple exercise that, if practiced daily, can significantly improve your awareness of the meaning we ascribe to the narratives we tell ourselves.

Currently Reading: The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Amazon)
Although I am still reading this, What I am liking is how it highlights different facets of human behaviour. It explains, in part, why some people act the way that they do and how they further their agenda using those means. I will likely be finished the book soon (at Law 47), so I am looking forward to reading something new. I am thinking Good Inside: A Practical Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be - By Becky Kennedy. Thatโs if I can get an e-copy or I might have to wait.
Previous Readings: Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon (Amazon)
For People Who: Seek permission to create freely and authentically.
What I liked is how creativity is framed with clear, empowering boundaries - distinguishing imitation from the creative act of borrowing principles. Itโs a reassuring guide for those who fear their ideas aren't original, offering confidence to embrace creativity without shame. The message is clear: creating with reckless abandon is valid, and building on existing ideas is not only acceptable but essential, as nothing is ever truly original.
