Navigate the Wonders of Why We Adventure - Fostering a Spirit of Adventure

Welcome, Fellow Wonderer to Thought Voyager!

This time, we’re diving into the Fostering a Spirit of Adventure.

Thanks for joining me on this voyage of reflection and consideration seeking out the wisdom in what has passed and what is to come. Below are some collected and themed insights so that we can resonate on the same wavelength and dive into our collective journey from problems to personal growth.

🧭 Heading Reflections

“Adventures are the exploration of the new and growth beyond our current being. It requires learning and therefore must involve some revelation where you come to understand something you were ignorant of. Without this, it is merely routine.”

“Our biggest barrier in life is the comprehension of reality, but adventure seeks to understand another piece of it in full knowledge it is never to be completely known. This awe exists in the gestalt and milieu of the world and it also sits in the infinitely small interactions.”

“Willingness to allow the paradox of our existence to occur when we take action, is what the spirit of adventure looks like. The world exists in wisdom applied to actions taken, not ponderings of actions to be taken.”

Wisdom of the Greats

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore." – André Gide

“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves." – Sir Edmund Hillary

🔥 Discovery Challenges

Challenge

Think of one thing in life that you always thought was stupid – Find a way to make part of it apply to something you find fascinating.

Reflection Prompts

"I am not good at learning new things"

"What would happen if I never had to worry about money ever again, what things, if already done, would have given my life a sense of meaning?”

"How do I feel when all adventure and awe in my life feels unattainable? If I was forced to never again believe it, how would it make me feel?”

🧪 Voyager's Catalyst

Wanderlust Date Nights – My wife and I try to explore other cultures and cuisines as a way of exploring the world. We do this through monthly date nights where we try to experience some of another culture – so we made it a product so that other people don’t have to do as much work to explore the world.

📖Voyager’s Bookshelf

What you consume becomes your attitude and behaviours.

Currently Reading: The Great Mental Models Volume 4 by Shane Parrish (Amazon)

By allowing myself to explore the reaches of different domains through this book, I feel more connected to the world around me. It reminds me that to get a truly expansive view of the world it is important to consume widely and things beyond your current understanding.
