Relate, Reflect and Ruminate: To My Beloved

Because sometimes, emotions don’t fit into bullet points and I have a flare for the dramatic.

For those feeling life's fleeting battles and the power of love's remedy

My days are numbered

Each moment a fleeting drain of my life

There is a macabre truth nested inside this egg

All things come to pass

Yet, you are an anomaly that pushes me to fight for more and to deny this truth

There is something in the way you fight me

Although I am a general and you the marshal

Moving our troops to their next doom

It gives pause, your shouts piercing ambient noise

A devotion to you galvanised through hardships on which we are sole collaborators

My inadequacy observed and challenged

Sometimes through blindness, but often through diligence

What am I to make of the fear you will leave

Stretchered out of the conflict or resigned to its outcome

Aware of each other's strategic advantages

Respect when I am downed

A curious respect to give arms to the unarmed

A reciprocal appreciation

Of one flesh and one blood yet of neither

Rebirth of the phoenix by a different shade

Like no other will there be

For we travel these trenches with warmth

Those we meet do not tremble but bow gracefully

A testament to our presence of self

Lovers of wholeness rather than slavenous dictators

If the softness of analogy for you does not yield

Know life is a war for me

Love is not a weapon but my remedy

Your presence my fuel to fight for preservation of its name

Together a greener and more beautiful world abound.
