Relate, Reflect and Ruminate: Light Breaking Through

Because sometimes, emotions don’t fit into bullet points and I have a flare for the dramatic.

For those feeling lost in darkness, burdened by shame, and seeking the light.

A morning greets me with sadness

The energy of the world has fallen

Coldness of the void that I once knew

Time passes differently here

Hours? Days? Weeks?

This timelessness overwhelms

Then the dawn arrives but only above the darkness

I see myself in the mirror of the world

Shame washes like crashing waves

But again, this shame speaks in familiar pattern

Furrowed brow and exhaustion artefacts of situation

There is a way from this labyrinth

Moments of clarity are apparent

Rays of light through the cracks in the void

That is from where I fell

Down is up and up is down

Being trapped is falling

The stairs are here and everywhere

Molesting the dark I climb

Step by cold step

The light ever closer

Strength returns to the well

Speed increases as light breaks through

Panting through gritted teeth

My reflection again not distorted

Breath returns, my death not assured

The world again takes form and colour

Should I fall again

The darkness will yield

Regardless
